The taller man wearing a hat was polite and tried to help, but the shorter man with a fringe was rude and swore at us. When we told the door staff that something had visibly upset a young girl, everyone was already very emotional. We tried to explain what had happened and calm things down, but the bouncer’s “boss” kept screaming at us and swearing, even as we asked him to stop. It was awful to see grown men in that position shouting in young girls’ faces. I wouldn’t recommend this place to any young girl who wants to feel safe on a night out. I’ll be telling people locally about what happened.

I was politely asking why I couldn’t come in, and the door staff said I seemed suspicious because I was asking too many questions. The whole thing started when they asked me to make myself visible to the camera as I entered. I had no problem doing that, but I asked out of curiosity why it was needed. Suddenly, I was being turned away. It was the first pub on my list, and I’d been in good spirits, ready to start the night. The story sounds made up, but it really happened, which still surprises me. Not quite the welcome I expected.

I had my cap on when I went in for a beer. A member of the bar staff told me I needed to take it off for the camera. I asked whether I could put it back on once inside, and the bouncer then refused me entry, saying I’d given too much back chat.

The pub staff were friendly and welcoming, but I’d avoid the place when security are at the door. They were aggressive and screamed in women’s faces when we asked questions, which was completely unnecessary. We’ve made a complaint, and the police are investigating. The door staff abused their position and let the pub down.

Jade, the lovely new manager, and her darling cat Louis made my family and me feel so welcome, like we were part of the family. It was a wonderful stay, and the customer service was second to none. One of the best hotels and pubs around. Lots of love from the Bixley family! We’ll definitely be back. Xx
