The Rochford Hotel

The bathroom was one of the better parts of my stay at the Rochford Hotel, with a wide bath and excellent water pressure. I couldn't get the shower to switch fully to the taps, though, so filling the bath took a while. The bar was reasonably priced compared with what I'm used to, and despite a few issues we had a good night overall. At £75 a night, it felt like fair value for a budget hotel. Check-in was easy and the staff were welcoming. The room looked clean and fresh at first, but closer up it felt a little budget. Some drawers were warped and stiff, and the mattress was too soft for my taste, with little support, though I did sleep decently. Noise from next door came through the thin-seeming walls. The main door was heavy and hard to close quietly, and its latch may need maintenance. The small car park was a bit limited, but the paid parking opposite was handy. Breakfast was included and the food itself was good, though the service felt abrupt and not very welcoming. Around 30 of us were there for a wedding and hoped to sit together. When I asked about shifting a table for two adults and four children, they declined without much flexibility. They were similarly inflexible when I asked about a replacement for grilled tomatoes. The cooked breakfast was nicely prepared but small: one sausage, two rashers of bacon, one egg, half a tomato and a small portion of mushrooms. Extras meant paying another £10 for a second meal. There was also a continental buffet, but it seemed short of food for the number of guests. Nothing was replenished while we were eating, so some of our group, especially those arriving later, missed out. Ketchup and brown sauce were nearly empty too.

The staff were so attentive and helpful throughout our wedding at the Rochford Hotel on the 9th August 2025. They made me feel like a top priority, and I had no idea there were weddings the day before and after mine until someone told me. I dropped off all my decorations the week before, so I didn't have to worry in the lead-up. The team put them up and took them down, and were so accommodating of all my crazy ideas 😂 They helped with every part of the wedding. Everything was clean and tidy, and the staff were absolutely amazing. We looked at lots of venues, but this was hands down the best. Honestly the best experience ever, and I can't recommend it enough!

The staff were nice and very helpful, but the room needs a deep clean. Dust covered the fan, the kettle was full of limescale, and the cleaning needs much more attention to detail. The toilet didn't flush properly and the sink was slow to drain. I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and it’s a great location for transport. We’ll always recommend The Rochford Hotel to anyone who asks. X We had our wedding here on Saturday and were blown away. We’d seen so many comments praising the staff and venue, but didn't realise just how true they were. From start to finish, they made us and our guests feel like royalty and brought our vision to life perfectly. We’re so lucky to have this venue close to us.
