The views across South Downs National Park are lovely. The lodges are thoughtfully landscaped to fit in with the surroundings. On running and gala days during the summer holidays, you can get catering at the railway station from 10am to 4pm.

There’s loads of room here, and the views are fantastic. Kids have plenty to do, and you can watch the trains down at the station or look into the restoration shed from the viewing area in the main building. The amenities are good, parking is plentiful, and the staff are helpful. It’s an awesome little campsite and easy to use.

The location beside the watercress line is great, and the pitches are flat with clean facilities. We could hear trains until quite late, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

Our bell tent was ready when we arrived, and having the space was worth the extra cost. With two small children, it also saved us from putting up and taking down a tent ourselves. The site was quiet and suited a break with our grandchildren, especially since Ropley station is a one-minute walk away for anyone who loves steam trains. The facilities were clean, well stocked, and very good.

The countryside around the campsite is beautiful, and the facilities are great. The showers were hot and had strong pressure. We expected the little railway and its regular steam rallies to make things noisy, but the trains turned out to be a fun part of camping. Our one-year-old baby wasn’t bothered by them at all.
