The welcome was lovely, and the bar had a great selection alongside a very nice menu. Good to see it fairly busy at lunchtime. I had belly pork and black pudding with cider gravy, then Pear frangipane tart, both excellent. Service was very good too. If you're considering Sunday lunch, it's worth booking ahead to be sure. Would definitely recommend.

I hadn't been to the pub in about 15 years, and it's changed for the better. The new owners seem to be bringing it back to the heart of the local community, and the atmosphere suggests it's working. The bar was already busy when we arrived early, though the dining areas were empty at first. The tables soon filled, and I could see why: the food was delicious. It's more gastro pub than pub grub, which suits me. There were also three Wye valley ales to choose from. Superb.

The new menu is lovely, and it feels like these folks are bringing the village vibe back. We couldn't be happier. It's a gorgeous setting with a wonderful beer garden, a nice redo inside, dog-friendly too, and helpful staff. Everything you want from a village spot focused on good food.

Sally and Tyler made us feel at home the moment we arrived. The staff were kind, attentive and helpful, and the service was exceptional. The whole stay was relaxing and joyful, and we'll definitely be back. The food was fabulous. From the hallway, we could see the kitchen, which was sparkling clean and well organised. Compliments to the chef for the fish dish: it enticed me to eat even the skin, which I normally never do. I love poached eggs for breakfast, though I often find them poorly cooked. These were outstanding, just like everything else at this lovely hotel.
