The Orchard House

We only stayed one night, and the manageress was extremely helpful. There were chocolates in the room and Bucks Fizz when we arrived. Everything was excellent quality, from the brilliant breakfast to the fabulous bed linen. The mattress was the best I've slept on apart from our own at home. Absolutely perfect, and well worth the cost. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The rooms at The Orchard House were clean, well appointed and very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and everything cooked to perfection. My wife and I used it as our base for a weekend in the area. If we come back, we'd definitely stay at The Orchard House again.

The house was a large dwelling, but despite booking in March, we were put in a room on the top, third floor. There were only two other guests there in July. There was no resident manager or owner. The website described WiFi throughout, a pool, turndown and room service, slippers, complimentary newspapers and fresh fruit, but none of these were available. The biscuits provided, including chocolate and Maryland cookies, were left unwrapped and soft when I bit into them, though they should have been hard. Breakfast was only basic. There were plumbing and security issues with the room. The dark grey front door could use a more cheerful coat of paint, and the inside porch was dark, with no lamp apparent. It was overpriced compared with similar accommodation, and management seemed uncaring.

A spacious, comfortable place that can accommodate a large family or groups.
