Mercure Sheffield Parkway hotel

First time staying here and I was really happy with it. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed and pillows. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, and both the rest and the food were yummy!

Never again. The pictures made it look clean and nice, but the bathroom had been cleaned with such strong bleach that I couldn't use it. The heating and air conditioning unit made me wheeze, so I switched it off. These units can harbour mould particles over time and need regular cleaning, and it didn't seem that this one had been. The bed wasn't secure and shot sideways when I got in. Breakfast was dry, and the staff were nowhere to be seen. A very strange experience, definitely not for me.

The hotel itself was lovely and everything else was nice, but there's an industrial warehouse behind it that makes noise all night. If you want a good night's sleep, I can't recommend staying here.

The food was below standard, and management handled my complaint just as badly. Nobody mentioned at check-in or when I ordered dinner that the kitchen would close early. After lengthy waits throughout, my meal seemed to have been forgotten, and when it arrived it was dry from sitting under a heater. Then I was treated as if I were the problem. For future events, guests should be told in advance when the kitchen is closing.
