The Jephson Hotel, BW Signature Collection

We paid a rate that didn’t feel worth it. The location was good for walking to shops and restaurants, and parking was available, but our room was dark and dirty. We raised the problems with the receptionist during our stay and were told it would get a deep clean. That never happened. Breakfast was average, with cereal, pastries and hot buffet items, and the dining room needed a proper clean too, with food under the tables. After we got home, I spoke to the general Manager Anthony Wickenden, hoping to find some kind of resolution. I stayed calm and listened, but he was rude and dismissive and didn’t apologize. If he’d listened and offered some way to resolve it, that would have softened the disappointment.

I’d book this hotel again because it’s opposite my workplace and is nice overall, even though dinner was disappointing. We stayed four nights for 324 through Booking.com. The restaurant was spacious but nearly empty, with only three guests there. The chicken was tough and tasteless, and the salad could have been better. The hotel itself is large, clean and nicely decorated, with parking and a separate bar and restaurant. Our room was okay with no issues, though we had to turn the heating down because it was too hot. The shower and bathroom were good.

The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help. I accidentally left £48 worth of postage stamps for my Christmas cards behind, and they kindly posted them all back to me, minus one, without any fuss. It’s a good-value hotel, about a walk away from Leamington centre along a very scenic route. The only small cleaning oversights were some lint on the nightstand shelf and a few cobwebs in the corners. Even so, the nightly price was still 60% cheaper than the Premier Inn. I know.

The staff seemed friendly, and town was about a 15-20 minute walk away. The hotel wasn't bad, but the decor felt tired and could use a clean and a bit of attention. The room windows were in terrible condition.
