The room was comfortable, breakfast was good, and the hotel was perfectly nice and clean.

Our stay was very pleasant. The room was a decent size, the bed soft but comfortable, and the shower had good pressure. Breakfast offered a good variety and was good quality, and staff were generally helpful. The only nuisance was the guests next door keeping their TV loud whenever they were awake. That's not the hotel's fault and doesn't change my rating.

UPDATE Aug 2025 According to local reports, this is now a migrant hotel. I have nothing against the people living there or the idea itself, but it's a shame that such a beautiful building isn't open to the public. Still, it's a private business, so the owners can run it as they choose. It used to be a very cool, nicely appointed hotel. My in-laws stayed there when they visited, and there was a wonderful terrace for sitting out in summer. I think the pandemic did for it. The building is now grubby, weeds are coming out of the walls, and it's falling apart. I noticed some signs of activity when I walked by the other morning, and it looks as if people are living there. But their www says it's 'temporarily closed', and has said that for over a year. Such a shame to see the beautiful building rotting away.

The food was good quality, well cooked and served in generous portions, even if the menu wasn't especially exciting or inventive. My room and bed were comfortable, and I slept well all week. It's a quiet spot but still an easy walk to the main street. I enjoyed the stay and would be happy to come back. Still, the place felt a bit off. They seem to be aiming for a boutique hotel look, but don't quite pull it off. I was travelling for work and suspect I had one of the cheapest rooms. The rooms are all different, but the jumble of second-hand-shop style furniture looked more shabby than shabby chic. The blind chain was broken, along with a couple of other things that made me think maintenance wasn't great. There also seemed to be staffing problems. One morning breakfast was meant to start at 7am, but nobody was there to take orders or finish setting up. I did the last of the setup myself so the other guests and I could at least have a hot drink and toast while waiting for a waitress.

The staff were friendly, attentive and polite, and breakfast was fine all week. I can't really comment on the hot food because my stomach doesn't tolerate it in the morning, but there were cereals and yogurts, so no complaint there. The hotel still leaves me wondering how it stays open, yet oddly I enjoyed the week I spent there on business. It started badly: I arrived at 7pm to an empty reception. Ringing the bell for several minutes got no response, so I went looking for someone myself. The room looked like it was from around 1994, though it was clean and the bathroom was nicely decorated. The bed squeaked terribly if I moved even a little, but it was one of the most comfortable I've slept in, and I woke up rested every morning. I'm still unsure if I'd stay again, but the hotel's quirky charm did make me laugh.
