Woodland Grange

The room had everything I needed and was comfortable. I was here for a conference, and the venue worked really well. Dinner was delicious. The wine list at the bar felt a little limited, though I was happy with the Sauvignon blanc I picked. Having a quiet Friday night to myself, away from the TV, was just right.

The breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with good quality food and a warm, welcoming feel. Thanks to Ollie & the Team at Woodland Grange Hotel for making the morning so enjoyable.

We ended up going to Chesford Grange Hotel nearby instead. They were glad to have us in for a drink and lunch while we met. At this hotel, my colleague and I had stopped by today for an informal meeting, but staff said security measures meant we couldn't do that. I've never known a hotel to turn away people who were ready to spend money over security concerns. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

For a short stay, I'd recommend it. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and Paprika Club was fantastic, but steer clear of Ayla Lounge. The corridors could do with a carpet clean or replacement, and the table lamps didn't match. If you're facing the road and like to sleep with fresh air coming in, you'll hear the traffic. At 6"2, I kept banging my head on the fixed shower head. Room sizes seemed much the same, with either a double or two singles, even though the booking options said standard or king. I queried it, and they tried to find me a bigger room. I think what you get may depend on who you book through. I expected a king size bed, but it was a standard double.
