We hadn't booked, but even though the pub was quite busy, the lady quickly found us a table. We chose it on the way home from a weekend away because it was nearby and allowed dogs. I'm glad we stopped: the beef roast was one of the best I've had in a while. The portions were really big, the sirloin was cooked perfectly, and the Yorkshire pudding was delicious even after it cooled. The trimmings were to die for, and we finished with a delicious Pavlova. We'll definitely return next time we're in the area.

The roast beef was just right, nice and rare, tender, and there was plenty of it. We stopped at the Chequers for Sunday lunch while visiting the Christmas Market in Tunbridge Wells. Our starter of pigs in blankets was delightful, and the Pavlova we shared for dessert was amazing. We sat in the bar area, where the music was a little loud and the seats weren't especially comfortable. The restaurant area looked more inviting.

We had lunch to reunite five old mates, and the new team were so helpful and welcoming. The newly revamped interior feels atmospheric and is laid out well. We ordered four Chicken Pies, and I had the Harvey Steak Pie. Every one was top notch and cooked perfectly, with some very well kept Harveys Best to wash it down. The puddings were just as tasty and nicely presented. Highly recommended!

We were glad we stumbled on this beautiful pub while heading back from a day out at the Pinetum. The welcome was warm, the staff were so friendly, and we felt right at home. The food really was delicious, and it was a lovely spot to relax after our day out. We'll definitely be back. Thanks again.

The revamped place made a great impression when we came for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. It was busy and lively without being noisy, and both the food and service were great. I was especially pleased that the vegetarian main had real flavour and didn't feel like an afterthought. My husband thought the beef was excellent too. We'd come back.
