The new owners have kept the pub immaculate. Everyone was really welcoming, and the food was lovely.

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch and will be back. It's a lovely old English pub with lots of unusual features, including hanging tables. Good luck trying to eat at one of those! There were four classic roast options, all looked tempting and seemed reasonably priced. The meal was really nice and well cooked, though our whole group felt it could have done with a few more vegetables, especially carrots and potatoes. That's what kept it from a five-star review.

We had our meal by the open fire, and it was truly amazing. My partner and I stayed here for Valentine's Day in February and were impressed by the menu and friendly atmosphere. Carol, the owner, and her son Alex made us feel very welcome. They're wonderful hosts, and I'd have no hesitation recommending the hotel or staying again.

We weren't sure what to expect after reading mixed reviews, but ended up having a brilliant meal at King William. The fillet of beef was cooked perfectly, and the dessert was delicious and beautifully presented. The pub itself is lovely, with exposed beams, a roaring open fire, and fairy lights across the ceiling. Friendly, attentive service, countryside views, and plenty of parking out back. It's also the only place I've been that has Mad Squirrel's ‘Zealous’ lager on tap. Can't wait to return!

We both started with crispy squid, then I had the lamb shank and my wife ordered the venison linguine. Lunch was really good, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. One of them had a great dry wit. Couldn't have asked for more, and we'd definitely come back.
