The staff were friendly and the food came quickly, but I wouldn't eat here again. My £20 rib eye was overcooked, with peas, chips and a steak that looked like a burger. One side was crisp, the other was okay, and at that price I'd expected some garnish. It was also sloppily served: a blonde female server knocked chips from my partner's plate onto the table and gave a half-hearted apology. The bar had very little in stock, and the food wasn't worth the money. The menu was just tatty printed sheets on a clipboard, and the cutlery felt as cheap as it gets. I've had better food and service elsewhere for less. I'm happy to pay more for a good meal and service, but that wasn't what we got.

The roast was lovely: tasty lean meat, crisp potatoes, nicely cooked veg and thick gravy. The staff were great and doing okay, even though they seemed young. A couple of things need attention, though. The cutlery feels cheap and unpleasant, and some fork prongs are bent. The ladies' toilets are in a bad way too, with peeling paint, dim lighting, both seats hanging off and a broken soap dispenser. They feel tired and need some care.

The roast potatoes were good, but the rest of the carvery was bland, and neither the meat nor vegetables stood out. They gave us a large serving of meat, at least. The staff were polite and seated us fairly quickly, though they seemed busy and stressed. I heard the beer wasn't tasty either. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don't plan to return.

We heard the kitchen had shut at 7 because they were short on stock, and the whole place seemed to be running out of things. There was no Coke on tap, just cans from a box, and only a couple of draft beers available. The restaurant itself was filthy, with food on the menus and all over the floor. The food we got was vile, slopped onto the plates, with fingerprints on the dishes. The chef clearly couldn't be bothered. This place has gone downhill badly, and we won't be back.

We came as a big group for a birthday, and the staff were great at arranging our tables. I've been before and usually found it reliable, but this time the food wasn't as good, despite not having to wait long. There seemed to be some confusion with the menu. The bar had hardly any drink choices, and the blonde female behind it needs to lose the attitude with customers or she won't have anyone to serve.
