The Grosvenor Hotel Rugby

The room was old, filthy and had broken furniture. The worst part was arriving to find the doors locked and nobody inside. I called the number ten times with no answer. The desk man had gone to pray at the mosque and took over an hour and a half to return. I find it ridiculous that he left in the middle of his shift for that. Avoid this place, honestly, you'd be better off sleeping on the floor outside.

We booked two nights and it was a huge mistake. This place was filthy, smelly and felt like squalor. There was a urine smell coming down the stairs from room 11, damp on the walls, stained carpets and bedding, smashed windows and mould. The curtains looked as if they'd been held up with safety pins. We had one towel for two people and one mug, which we wouldn't have used anyway. The toilet was blocked. I've never felt so dirty, and can only describe the stay as hell. They'd be lucky to get one star from me, if I could give zero, I would.

The only good thing was the location. The room was filthy and very outdated, and there wasn't enough towels or any teaspoons. We could hear people walking overhead, talking in the rooms beside us, and running along the corridor and slamming doors. The bathroom radiator was rusty and flaking. Staff weren't very helpful and seemed uncaring.

I booked at the last minute for four days and got a great price. The staff were friendly, and the room was fine for what I paid. It's not luxurious, but you get what you pay for. I'd recommend it.
