Harriet's Cottage

The location worked really well, about five minutes from central Whitby and the supermarkets, and we had a lovely time overall. The house is gorgeous, and you can tell it was someone's labour of love. There was water damage on several ceilings, apparently from a leak at some point. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a small washer and a very small dryer. Sleeping options are a double room, a room with single beds, and what I suspect is a king bed in the roof space. I couldn't even try that one because of the sloping ceiling. There's a small courtyard at the back, but no off street or assigned parking. We were told we'd get a parking permit, but it didn't arrive until the last day, when it came in the post. I'd recommend it as a holiday let, with one condition: if you're over 6' 2", you'll scalp your head on the door frames as you walk through.

Everything else was absolutely perfect. The home is beautifully furnished and decorated, and I loved the wood burner and amazing kitchen. The downsides for me were the parking and the location in relation to Whitby.

It's our second time at Harriets Cottage, two years after the first, but it somehow felt like we'd only just been here. Still warm, relaxing and wonderfully cosy. It's well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

It's a modern, stylish place that still feels homely, and makes an excellent base for exploring the area around Whitby. Even my dog loved relaxing by the log fire in the evenings.
