Once we finally found the Dorset Hotel, or Dorset House Hotel, we got a cheerful welcome and were shown to our room. It was a good base, only a few minutes' walk from the main things to do in Ryde. Finding it would have been less stressful if the hotel used one name. Even Google couldn't decide which it was. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, and the staff were helpful and made sure we were looked after. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was another matter: it felt like a later DIY addition squeezed into the space. Calling it compact was technically right, though I've slept in bedrooms bigger than that bathroom. Still, the shower, toilet and sink all worked. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return, with a map and a flexible idea of what compact means.

The breakfast was superb, and Dave's marmalade was such a bonus that I bought some to take home. The cat was lovely too. The team were amazingly friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. We made a mistake when booking because of mobility issues, but can't fault the welcome. Our room was a little small and dated, though clean, and the beds were comfortable. There's a lovely communal lounge and bar, the price is extremely reasonable, and it's peaceful and quiet. The bus service is nearly on the doorstep. We'll definitely stay again, well done everyone.

Breakfast was a highlight, fresh and tasty each morning with plenty of choice. The location also worked really well, with local attractions, shops and transport links easy to reach. The staff were welcoming from the moment I arrived and happy to help with anything. My room was spotless and well looked after, which made the stay very comfortable. The Dorset Hotel felt clean, thoughtfully managed and well run. I had a fantastic stay, would gladly come back, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A real gem!

The location was great, close to the seaside and surrounded by fish and chip shops, pubs and little stores. Free parking was handy, and it was good value. Breakfast was really good, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit old, but comfortable, and we had a lovely night's sleep. The cat made the place feel even more homely. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

The island was easy to explore from this ideal location, and we enjoyed our stay. Dave at breakfast was cheerful, polite and always ready to help. The winter duvets weren't needed in August. The shower ran slowly and stayed red hot.
