We spent one night at the Travelodge Ryde Isle of Wight hotel on May 24-25. There was a strong animal smell as soon as we entered the corridor. We were given Room 13 at the far end, where the smell was unbearable. We politely asked reception if we could move rooms. The receptionist said the hotel was fully booked and there were no rooms available. She also said no animals had been in that room for the past two week. We found animal hair in there as well, which makes me question whether that was true or whether the room hadn’t been properly cleaned for at least two weeks.

A budget place in a great central spot, with lots of options for eating and drinking. Spoons is just around the corner. Buses are handy for getting around the island, so get the southern vectis app bus app. There’s long stay parking at St Thomas Street. I’d recommend this hotel.

I’ve stayed at the Travelodge in Ryde many times and the front desk staff have always greeted me pleasantly. Charlie has especially impressed me by going the extra mile each time. She’s always willing to help with room allocations. On this visit she was at the end of her shift and ready to head home, but stayed a few extra minutes to make sure I got the room I wanted. She’s never let me down. GIVE HER A PAY RISE. SHE DESERVES IT!

Clean, comfortable and well suited to an economy stay in Ryde. It’s at the top of town in a quiet spot, up a hill, but there are plenty of buses for anyone who finds the walk difficult.
