The Old School Hotel

We spent a really peaceful, relaxing stay here and only wished we had longer. Our English room was sweet, spacious and comfortable, and the views were gorgeous. The Old School Hotel sits above the picturesque harbour, with shops and places to eat just a short stroll away. Service was wonderful, and breakfast was lovely. We’d love to return someday.

The bathrooms in both rooms were immaculate and looked brand new, and the restaurant served a wonderful breakfast. We were there for two nights in late October on a Doc Martin trip to Port Isaac, with two rooms for our family group of three: the large Biology room and the single Physics room. Biology was roomy, in good shape and a great place for us to hang out, though its fold-out third bed was very uncomfortable. Physics felt a little tired and could use a freshen up. Of my three basics, a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and good WiFi, only the WiFi fell short. It’s a nice place in a great location. The weather wasn’t on our side, but Port Isaac and northwest Cornwall were fantastic. We also did the Doc Martin walking tour of Port Isaac with part-time show participant Mike Meakins, which I highly recommend.

Popped in for a coffee on a miserable February morning. The staff were friendly, and the bar was a lovely, comfortable place to sit. The restaurant looked nicely presented, so I’ll have to come back and try it.

For our wedding anniversary, I brought my Wife to Port Isaac, a place she's always wanted to see. The hotel is in a superb spot, the food was fantastic, and the staff were so helpful that nothing seemed too much trouble. We'd certainly stay here again for a special occasion.
