Breakfast was delicious, and the room was surprisingly spacious and beautiful, with everything we needed. We were there for just one night to see a show, but the staff we met, around eight people, were all helpful and very polite. It may have been the cheapest place we found in Manchester, and we’d happily return. There’s no parking, though we came by train, so that didn’t matter to us.

The rooms were modern, spotless, and comfortable, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. It ran from 8 to 11, with tea, coffee, juice and cereal available in the dining area. We skipped dinner there, though they have a good-looking menu. Our concert plans changed when Ollie Murs’s show was cancelled, but the welcoming staff at the Black Lion suggested places to go. We had cocktails in the city, then came back for live entertainment. The bar has lots of tables and a pool area, and the drinks, atmosphere, and friendly service were all great. It’s well placed in the city, and there are several secure car parks a few minutes’ walk away. I’d gladly stay again next time I’m in Manchester.

The beer and service were both very good at this Salford pub. My “spicey” hot dog, though, wasn’t spicy to me, and the food tasted a bit bland.
