Milford Hall Salisbury

The room was clean, the bathroom modern, and the pillows were decent quality. Reception and breakfast staff were very friendly, and I had a good stay. I'd read complaints about thin walls and hearing everything. My neighbours happened to be quiet, though from what I did hear, noise could be an issue if other guests aren't as considerate.

The place had a really nice vibe, and I had the best night's sleep. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with staff who were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We stayed over New Year's and had a wonderful time. It's just a few minutes' walk from local pubs and shops, and we're already looking at a return visit.

Breakfast was well organised with a good choice. The cooked options looked delicious, and my family members who tried them said they didn't disappoint. The room was exceptionally clean and kept to a high standard. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. An excellent hotel, and we'll return.

For the four of us, the afternoon tea cost just under £100 and really wasn't worth it. The egg and lettuce sandwiches were watery and odd, while the ham and cheese ones had processed ham and burger cheese slices. The bread was stale, and the scones broke apart when cut. A Tesco's meal deal would have tasted better and cost £85 less. We'd booked a birthday tea for my wife, but got the feeling nobody expected us. They said they were busy and offered us either the restaurant or the tea room, which was already very busy and expecting another 30 people soon. There was no atmosphere, and the table was still laid for dinner. The server and manager didn't know what menus were on their website, seemed surprised the “Classic Cream Tea” was listed, and quoted different prices from the website. We got married here and have held a couple of functions since, so it was shocking to see how far the place has gone downhill. We won't return. 1/10.
