Chad Hill Hotel

Judy was lovely and happy to help with anything, and she knew the area well. The hotel is quiet, which suited us, and it’s close to a bus stop, shops and the sea. Our room was a little dated, but you’d pay a lot more for a high-spec hotel. Breakfast set us up for the day, with tea and coffee in endless supply.

Our dog gets quite anxious when left in the room during breakfast, and our host was so understanding about it. The welcome was warm, she was always smiling, and the service was fantastic. We couldn’t find a negative about our stay. I’ve already told friends and family, and we’ll definitely book again.

Miss J, whose name I’ve forgotten, was an absolute delight and made me feel at home. She gave us such good service, and somehow seemed to be everywhere at once. The hotel is cute and charming, the rooms were comfy, and breakfast was amazing. One bed had slats that kept dropping out, leaving a dip in the mattress. The shower sounded like a plane taking off, probably because it’s old. They lock the doors at a certain time at night, even though we were given a key. After drinks with old friends, we had to ring the bell to get back in, which was embarrassing. We hadn’t been told there was a curfew, and I think that should be mentioned in an email before arrival or in the adverts. We can’t be too mad, though. Our car stopped running, and the owner’s son, Alex, helped jump-start it. He saved our holiday and went out of his way to help. Thank you, Alex. All in all, pretty damn great!

The host was easygoing, it was quiet, and the location was lovely, just a five-minute walk from the beachfront. It’s very dog friendly too. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower won’t fit an average-sized person. Everything looked really old, like it was from the 70s, and the smoke smell was strong. There were no plugs by the beds, and the bed and pillows were worn out. It’s okay if you only need somewhere to sleep and won’t spend much time in the room.
