A quiet place to get away without spending too much. Bryan gave us a personal welcome, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a full English with vegetarian options, and free parking all around the hotel was the cherry on top. Thanks, Team Chester Lodge.

Brian chatted with us both when we arrived and when we left. He's a great man and a very welcoming host. We had a lovely two-night stay at this beautiful Victorian hotel, with great service and delicious breakfast. My family and I enjoyed it, and we'll stay again on our next trip.

The rooms could do with updating and felt a bit run down. The lodge itself is gorgeous, but the rooms seemed better suited to smaller families of around four or groups of friends. Still, most of the time you'll be out after breakfast and back to rest at night, and we had a fantastic stay overall. It's in a brilliant spot, with private parking and just a five-minute walk to Sandown beach and Sandown Pier. Our host Brian was lovely and full of useful information. If you're unsure where to start, have a quick chat with him. The service was impeccable, and I'd recommend booking here.

Breakfast was better than we'd expected: plentiful, good quality and served nice and hot. The staff were polite, helpful and great with the kids. The whole hotel was spotless, including our room. It's an old hotel with old features, but very good. We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff when we arrived at 9am. Our room was already available at 11am, but they let us leave our bags in a secure room while we went out for the day. When we came back in the early afternoon to check in, Brian welcomed us. He's a very nice man, helpful and full of information. It's an amazing hotel for all sorts of guests. We still have four days left of our holiday and I'm already looking to book again soon. Thank you Brian and your team 👍

The room was too small for six people, and the hotel felt more like a house than a hotel. My school brought me here on holiday in May, and this was my experience, though others may feel differently. We were told the bunks were brand new, but my friends found dirt and rust on them, so they seemed second-hand. There was what looked like black mould on the net curtains in the small bathroom, which only had a shower. To get hot water, we had to turn the tap to hot first. There was no soap by the sink, so I had to share my hand-wash soap. I was the only one who brought shampoo and conditioner, though my friend and I both had body wash. The whole hotel had a steady damp and mould smell. The food wasn't good either, and the scrambled eggs were runny. I really wouldn't recommend it. I think it could ruin your stay on the Isle of Wight.
