Bayshore Hotel

We were impressed by the friendly, hard-working staff and the very good food during our Christmas stay at the Bayshore. The hotel was cheerful, and we booked 12 months ahead after checking for mobility access. We were told about the steps at the entrance, but the brochure didn’t mention the other stairs, which made getting around difficult for my husband, who uses a walker or stick. From reception, stairs lead down to the lounge and entertainment area, then further down to the restaurant. Carrying drinks from the bar beside reception was hard for some guests using mobility aids. Our room was near the lift on the second floor, but reaching it meant climbing another set of stairs and passing through two doors, including a fire door. We couldn’t take my husband’s walker up and down, so had to leave it near reception. The room and shower room were clean and tidy, though the room was small and tired, with torn wallpaper. The shower doors left such a narrow gap that getting in comfortably was difficult, so we gave up. We could see that updating work was underway from the fresh paint smell, and understand Alfa Holidays doesn’t cater only to guests with mobility needs. Still, the access information needs updating. There were three full coach parties and many guests with various needs. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the right hotel, so ask more questions before booking.
