Lyndhurst House

There’s a lovely park and the start of a cliff walk just across the road, and the seafront is about a ten-minute stroll away. It’s a quiet road, though there’s a fairly steep climb on the way back. The building has lots of original features and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and there’s parking on site, but space is limited to around four or five cars. The friendly B&B took us in after the hotel we’d booked caught fire, and we were glad they did.

Breakfast had plenty of choice and was nice. The parking spaces out front are tight, and while we were eating, we saw someone scrape our car as they pulled out, then drive away straight off. We’d booked one room for my mother and another for my husband and me. At first they put us on separate floors, but after we asked, they kindly moved all of us to the ground floor. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The shower light in our room didn’t work. We were told we’d raised it too late for them to get anything from the shops, but they’d deal with it as soon as possible the next day. We were only there one night.

The fire alarm went off quite late, and the staff member responsible didn’t seem properly trained to handle it. We went back to bed feeling rather anxious. Aside from that, it was a perfectly fine stay. It’s a short walk from the seafront. Everything was clean and had been recently refurbished. The breakfast ordering system was a little complicated, but the food itself was fine.

The rooms are decent but a bit small, and the water pressure wasn’t enough. Breakfast wasn’t great either. It’s okay for a day or two, but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer. The woman who handles cleaning and breakfast was good to deal with. The guy working there, not so much.
