Martin and his wife made us feel right at home, and Buddy the dog was a lovely bonus. The food was delicious, and on our last evening we enjoyed drinks in the sunshine with some lovely locals. We were in town for the Sanquhar Common Riding, so the easy parking was handy. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and it had all the useful extras like a kettle, water and hairdryer. Great value too. We couldn't fault the stay, and we'd choose this place again if we visit next year.

The room was great for the price, and the staff were really helpful. Being able to bring our dog along was great too.

Breakfast was so good that we didn't need to eat again until the evening. Our two dogs were welcome at breakfast, and they got so much attention and care that at times it seemed like they were the ones paying the bill. Martin and his wife were friendly and down to earth, and the accommodation had everything thought through nicely. A fabulous overnight stay, thank you.

The best part of our three-night sporting trip with Keith was how welcome Martin and Elma made us feel. We ended up enjoying such good banter with the locals in the hotel bar, especially while watching the Euro 2024 Final, that by the end we felt like honorary locals. Elma's cooking was superb, particularly the porridge and scrambled eggs at breakfast. We stayed while going to Ayr Races and The Open at Royal Troon, both under an hour's drive from Kirkconell. The location is quiet and lovely. Although the rooms aren't ensuite, there are only four of them, and sharing the two bathrooms and extra separate toilet was never a problem. Paper towels in that toilet and hooks for towels in the bathrooms would be useful. We'd definitely return, hopefully when The Open is at Turnberry in 2027. Thanks to Martin and Elma for making the most memorable part of our road trip such a good one, and best wishes for the business.

The owners were so welcoming and happy to have dogs. The room was thoroughly clean, and breakfast and coffee were the best we had on our week-long tour of Scotland. A lovely night's stay. Definitely recommend.
