The big garden was a lovely place to unwind, with plenty of chairs and swings, and even though the other guest rooms were occupied, there was room for everyone. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including different egg and bacon dishes prepared by Michael and Leigh. Our room was quiet and cozy, simply furnished but tastefully decorated, with two beds. We stayed one night at Clos de Vaul Creux. When we arrived by ferry from Guernsey in the morning, it was about a 20-minute walk uphill from the harbor to the house, right in the middle of the small main town. Leigh welcomed us warmly, and our suitcases were brought up by tractor. We left our bags there and headed out on a beautiful hike to the southern tip of Little Sark. Michael gave us a warm welcome when we got back, and arranged to have our luggage taken down to the harbor when we left. We went away happy, and I’d gladly recommend the place to anyone looking to slow down.

We dropped in for breakfast and were greeted so warmly. The full English was the best I’ve ever had, with everything from juice, homemade bread and fresh croissants to delicious bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes. We sat in the lovely garden, took our time, and never felt rushed. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic, and I’d happily recommend it and visit again soon.

Leigh’s old BnB is beautiful, and I’d highly recommend staying there. The house is in a great spot near shops and restaurants, with a lovely garden at the back. I spent time hiking to La Seigneurie and La Coupee, and also went to a theatre show Leigh suggested. It was a Shakespeare spoof at the Vicarage, and I had a great time. Leigh, the owner, was generous and gracious. I’d asked ahead for dinner because I was arriving late, and she made me the most tender stuffed chicken I’ve ever had. Winnie, who served meals, was cheerful and helpful throughout my stay. I was also glad to use the BnB’s clothesline, since I was halfway through my trip and needed clean clothes. One small thing for taller guests, if you’re over 5'10", watch your head, as some ceilings are low.

We loved our stay, and will almost certainly be back. The room was clean and cared for, with an en suite bathroom that looked modern and lovely, a big bath for two, and a great shower. There was a large window looking out over greenery and blue sky. The garden was gorgeous, with lots of places to sit back in the sun, and it would be easy to spend a whole day there. Breakfast suited our slower mornings. We ate there all 3 days, with cold choices as well as a cooked menu using fresh ingredients. We had vegan croissants and mushrooms with vine tomatoes on toast, and could wander down for breakfast at 9:45 when we were ready. We’re both vegan, and the staff went well out of their way to accommodate us. Leigh clearly cares about her work and has high standards. One evening, after we finally pinned down a time at 7pm and talked through what we could eat, she made us an incredible risotto with fresh vegetables, mint from her garden, and Nasturtium flowers on top. The guest house is ideally placed by the main high Street/ avenue and the tractor drop-off point from the harbour. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. We were given little L'Occitane shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and soap, plus a hairdryer, plenty of clothes storage and a kettle with hot drink options. There was also a dresser with a mirror, a mini bar downstairs where you note what you take, and a shared lounge with board games and DVDs. A note for anyone with a disability or limited mobility: our room was up a small spiral staircase. There may be rooms on the property that are accessible, but I’m not sure and didn’t check the others, so ask beforehand if stairs are a concern.

Leigh was a wonderful host and a brilliant cook. I had chicken the first evening and lobster the next. The gardens were a lovely place to relax, and everything else about the stay was perfect. I’d come back, though I’d try to book a room that doesn’t open straight off the dining/living room. I was in the twin room just off that shared space, along with a couple of other rooms. It felt a bit odd at first to pass other guests as they came and went, but I got used to it. On the first night, a group stayed in the dining/living room after I’d gone to bed. The room clearly wasn’t soundproofed, so I heard their whole conversation until they finally went to bed, thankfully just 1 hour 15 minutes later.
