Colston Hall Cottages

Our room was up in the roof and was very cold at night. The bedding was good quality, but the duvet filling was sparse. Getting luggage up the narrow, winding stairs was hard work, and some people may find them difficult. The farmhouse is lovely, with old Elizabethan features throughout alongside modern conveniences. Breakfast was reasonably good, with fresh fruit, cereal, a cooked option, tea and toast. We met one of the people who run the business, and he was very nice.

We stayed in the Hayloft and enjoyed the peace of this lovely countryside B&B. It’s a little off the beaten track, but worth going to, with plenty of nearby places for evening meals. Breakfast was great each day.

The Butler Room was warm, with oak beams all around, and had an exceptional bathroom and shower. Breakfast was wonderful, and the room had beautiful views. The hosts were charming and friendly. It felt like a real Suffolk stay, and the Sweffling White Horse pub nearby is the best I’ve ever been to. For this area, the price was fantastic, about a third of the nearest comparable accommodation, and the room didn’t feel compromised for the lower price. It just felt like the right price. Heaven! I’ve stayed in two different rooms here on separate visits, and the location, rooms and owners have all been lovely. It’s a great stop and much better than some other places I’ve tried in the area. There are nice walks around the grounds, plus a couple of carp lakes and several conker trees. My lad and I had hours of fun there. Thanks for a great stay and good memories!
