The Helaina

We stayed for two nights, 13th and 14th February. The room was clean and nicely pre-warmed, with a comfortable bed, a kettle, coffees, teas and biscuits. The bathroom was clean too. There’s a reasonably priced help-yourself honesty bar with snacks. We chose breakfast, and it was excellent both days. All in all, a lovely stay at a very reasonable rate, with a friendly, helpful host. Thanks from Kris and Caroline.

Last Thursday and Friday we stayed in one of the apartments. The weather was miserable, but it was warm and comfortable inside, a really pleasant place to spend our time. We’ve also stayed in the bed and breakfast before, where the rooms were the cleanest and most comfortable, and breakfast was amazing. We’ll definitely book again.

We loved the sea view so much that we’ve already booked Apartment 4 for next year. We spent three nights there, with the windows open the whole time because you could always hear the sea. The apartment was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. There was plenty of storage, and the beds were comfortable. It has two generous bedrooms, a good-sized bathroom with a shower over the bath, and an open-plan lounge and modern kitchen with a dining table. The apartments and B&B next door look out over North Bay. Tom & Jill were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Parking on the street outside, on either side of the road, cost £2.50 per day (Aug 25), with the permit paid for on arrival. It’s a handy spot for a 10-15 minute stroll into town or down the sloping paths to North Bay.

The cliff-top setting gives you fantastic sea views, and it’s an easy walk into town. The apartments are clean, cosy and well equipped. Street parking is available, though it can get busy during peak tourist times.
