We were moved to a new room straight away when there was a problem with our toilet. The room itself was very nice. If you’re in a sea-view room, I’d close the curtains when you go out to keep the heat down, as it can get stifling. There wasn’t any breakfast being served while we were there, which was a shame because the dining room looked nice. A little fridge in the room would have been helpful, especially with no breakfast available. The outside is clearly less renovated than the interior, though I’m sure it’ll look good when it’s done. The stairs are quite narrow and make it difficult to get up and down with luggage, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone less mobile. It’s in a good central spot for the front and shops, but it’s a good 10-minute walk to the dog-friendly beach area and the same distance to a green space for dogs to do their business.

Room 3 had a beautiful sea view, a comfortable bed and sofa, a good shower, and a balcony with lovely views. Amy greeted us and was really nice. Before we arrived, the staff helped us work out where to park. We loved staying at this little gem and would definitely recommend it and return.

We couldn't even get inside when we arrived, so we had to call the number on the window. A woman came over with a key and told us to leave it on the table at checkout. The family room was worn, and the shower swung between scalding and freezing. We saw no staff during our stay, got no breakfast, and nobody came in to replenish the tea and coffee. Outside, scaffolding covered the hotel and it looked dirty and almost derelict. Scarborough itself is lovely and we'll visit again, but we won't return to this place. Such a shame, given the location.

The room was lovely and clean, and the location was beautiful. The staff were friendly, too. The tomatoes at breakfast were really nice, but that was about the only bright spot. On the first day our breakfast money was refunded because there was no cook. The next morning we waited an hour for an undercooked veggie sausage, an overdone egg, a few tinned mushrooms and one hash brown. Toast arrived 20 minutes before the rest and was cold by then; the replacement toast wasn't actually toasted. I can't understand the wait, and £10 was absolutely not worth it.

The staff were so friendly and explained everything well, and the sea view room was lovely and peaceful. A few things let it down: there was no bathroom blind or curtain, and the kettle was old and filthy inside. Parking was advertised as available on site, but there wasn't any. We had to leave the car on the street, which didn't feel safe with all the nightlife on that road.
