Royal Hotel By Greene King Inns

We really enjoyed our meal at The Royal. There’s a great bar, plenty of food choice, and the service was second to none. The team were lovely and friendly, and the location is great too. Highly recommend.

We had such a good time here last year, so it was a real shame that Christmas Day lunch this year was a letdown. The food was poor and the service was bad, with staff seeming like they didn't want to be there. The music was so loud that having a conversation was almost impossible.

I had bites all over me and was convinced they might have been fleas or bed bugs. I also had to ask to change rooms because the bed was dirty and so was the bathroom. The beds were really uncomfortable, with springs you could feel, and the rooms smelled odd. There were cobwebs everywhere, and the whole hotel was absolutely filthy. It’s so old and unloved, it badly needs refurbishing.

The pub was clean and tidy, and Chloe was on her own behind the bar tonight but still gave five star service with no wait. She always works so hard. Well done, Chloe. I love visiting here.
