The hotel itself is fine, but the car park is a nightmare when it's full. The parking bays in the middle take away too much room for reversing and manoeuvring, even in a small car. They should be removed.

I had a suite for three nights recently. It was very spacious and clean overall. I had to call and ask for the WiFi password because nobody had told me what it was. The shower barely adjusted and got the floor very wet.

The breakfast was really nice, though I prefer the toast to arrive with the cooked breakfast. It came five minutes early, so I had to eat it cold. The bed was okay for one night but felt a bit firm, and I wouldn't stay several nights in case it gave me a bad back. For the price, the place wasn't as good as I'd expected. The bedside drawers were stained, and there were water marks on the bathroom mirror and shower glass. The bathroom glasses looked used and unwashed. The shower and sink plugholes looked grimy, apparently from cleaning products that hadn't been cleared away. There were little bits of toilet paper on the bathroom floor, and the stained lino needs replacing. The bedroom carpet needed a proper vacuum too. It would help if the TV remote were left out instead of hidden in a bedside drawer, so guests don't have to hunt for it. And what's with the setup of the gents' toilet near reception, the disabled one, with a toilet and two urinals next to each other?

Those handmade pies were the highlight of our lunch. We tried different flavours, and the minted lamb was my favourite, packed with meat and flavour. Beautiful.

A lovely place to eat, and the bars and toilets were clean. The staff were friendly too.
