Simon went well beyond what we expected to make things work for us, and we really appreciated it. I stayed one night with my daughter so we'd be near the Seven Sisters cliff hike. The beds were comfortable and we slept well, and breakfast was lovely, with the best sausages we've tasted. The service was exceptional. We'll definitely return and hope we can stay longer next time.

The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff friendly, and there was a good choice of drinks. The desserts, though, were a real letdown. The menu described a traditional lemon meringue with ice cream, but there was no meringue and just a teaspoon of ice cream, so what arrived was simply lemon tart. The advertised homemade cake was actually a factory cupcake still in its plastic pot and wrapping. The dessert menu is outright misleading.

Don't come expecting somewhere posh. It's got that rustic, old-time pub feel, and the food, atmosphere and staff are all warm and welcoming. I'd happily stay again.

We visited for Sunday lunch and it was busy, with a lively bar and what seemed like good support from locals. We found parking on a side street. The roast was nice, though there wasn't much meat, and the vegetables weren't overcooked. Pudding was good too. It's dog friendly, with water bowls and treats. A friendly hotel, and we'd come back.

I was here for three nights for a family event. The room was comfortable and the cooked breakfasts were very good.
