Holiday Inn Maidstone-Sevenoaks by IHG

I stopped by the Holiday Inn Maidstone for coffee today and found it relaxed and welcoming, a nice spot to sit for a bit. Olivia at the bar was especially warm, professional and attentive, and the service was friendly and quick. My coffee came with a smile. I'd happily pop in again.

We slept really well thanks to a great bed, and the room was spacious with the usual free TV channels. The aircon heated it well without much noise. The location works nicely too, with restaurants and pubs nearby, plus Sevenoaks and Maidstone about 20 minutes away and quaint villages a short drive off. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, feel tired and could use a major refurb. Staff were friendly and helpful. The gym is tiny and claustrophobic, while the pool was okay and the sauna was hot, clean and not too busy. We didn't eat there, but the £4.40 hot chocolate we had was lukewarm and tasteless. It's a budget place that does the job, though it could be much better. I first gave it two stars by mistake, so corrected that to three. Hopefully it improves when the refurb is done.

Back again sooner than expected, on my motorcycle. Liz was on reception and greeted me by name, which was lovely. She was polite, helpful and friendly. My room was clean and spacious, then I headed to the health suite. The food was really nice again. There was a private party on and the restaurant was busy, but the staff made sure I was looked after. Another lovely Holiday Inn stay. I'm back in January, so you can guess where I'll be staying.

I've eaten in the restaurant twice, for breakfast and lunch, and both the food and service were excellent. The staff are polite and friendly, and the rooms are spotless, roomy and airy, with air conditioning. The car park is a good size, and entering your number plate on arrival makes it easy. There's a gym and spa on site that I haven't tried yet, but I'll give them a go next time. I love this place and will keep coming back and recommending it.
