Shanklin Hotel

The coach trip gave me a proper break from driving, and my wife and I had a really enjoyable week. We'd driven to the Isle of Wight on our two previous visits, but this time we went with Alfa travel, who run the Shanklin hotel. We stayed seven days and six nights, and it was worth every penny. The manager and staff welcomed us when we arrived at 6:30pm, and still served us a roast beef Sunday dinner despite the late arrival. Breakfast was whatever you wanted, and dinner each evening was three courses, starter, main and sweet, with a different meal each night, all cooked to perfection. There was bingo every night and some very good singers. The trips included a half day in Ventnor on Monday, though some shops are closed then; a steam train ride and coach to Ryde on Tuesday; and a boat trip from Cowes around to Ryde and into Portsmouth to see the navy ships in port on Wednesday. Thursday was free to do as we liked. On Friday we visited Quarr Abbey and walked around Newport, then headed home on Saturday. We'll definitely look forward to coming back next year. Well done to Alfa travel and the staff.

The pool and other facilities were good for the price, and the staff were amazing. My room was nice and clean. The WiFi was decent too, though I thought the TV was a bit small and old. Really good value.

The staff at Shanklin Hotel were so friendly and helpful all weekend. They helped us arrange an extra room when my daughter needed her own, and when I accidentally left something behind, they sent it straight to me. A lovely, welcoming place. Highly recommended!

My sister and I stayed here last week. The food was excellent, and special thanks to our waiter Luke. Our room was very nice, the hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll be back.
