Watching the wildlife from the cottage was a treat, especially with the binoculars there for guests to use. Field Cottage sits in a peaceful, private spot overlooking a field, away from the main house and beside the Shanklin to Ventnor coastal path. It was cosy, clean and welcoming, with everything we needed for self catering, including wifi. We spent a wonderful week there in July 2014. Bill and Jayne were friendly and attentive without getting in the way. Bill showed us around on arrival and explained how to find them if we needed anything. They clearly understand hospitality, and the four star accommodation reflects that care.

It’s a pleasant spot and a handy place to stop or get dropped off during the coastal walk. The food didn’t draw me away from the places in either Shanklin or Ventnor, where I’ve found better options.

We stayed in the cottage rather than the main house, and the hosts were still the kindest we’ve ever had. Always smiling and ready to help. We’ll definitely come back.

Those were the best scones I’ve ever had. A lovely little find along the coastal path from Shackling to Ventnor, and well worth stopping for afternoon tea.
