Student Only Exchange Works

There are only four washing machines for the whole building, and they break down daily. Drilling and hammering starts at 8:30am every weekday and goes on until 5pm, so that’s what you hear all day. Trust me, any other place is better. The only reason you see five-star reviews is, apparently, that people are entered into a raffle if they leave one. Avoid this place at all costs.

I’m booking a stay for 2026/2027, and the team have already been such a huge help. Erin and Heather deserve a special mention for their patience, knowledge, and support. They really went out of their way for us. Thank you!

My short stay was a real letdown. After reception couldn’t move me from the first room, I had to call another number, and nearly three hours passed before I was finally transferred. The new room was still missing soap and bedsheets, though at least it had towels and pillow covers. I asked twice for soap and was told it would be brought over, but it never came, so I gave up. The first room had been without towels, sheets, soap, or toilet paper. Guests are also expected to take their rubbish with them, and the rooms aren’t even cleaned properly after checkout. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

It feels secure and homely here, and you’re really close to the uni, train station and high street. There are lots of free social events for student residents, too. The reception staff are all lovely, especially Erin, who makes everything feel manageable. She even climbed all those stairs to let me in when I was locked out.
