Whitley Hall Country House Hotel

The restaurant and bar are beautiful and full of character, and the building and grounds are stunning. We came for a family birthday lunch. The food was delicious and excellent quality, with a very reasonable lunch menu. The only real criticism is that the bar prices were excessive.

We stayed one night for my partner's birthday, and the quiet, tranquil setting was just what we wanted. Our Deluxe Double in the original part of the hotel was very comfortable, with all the extra touches you'd expect. The food and service were brilliant, and every staff member we encountered was superb and professional. What a fabulous place, we'd happily return. Highly recommended.

The food was absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed it, and the service during our romantic break was fantastic. Our room was cold when we arrived and the water stayed cold throughout our stay. We did get an apology and a couple of free drinks, and were told emergency repairs to the boiler meant it couldn't be helped.

Our daughter had a wedding at Whitley Hall, and the event was fantastic: well organised and presented, with amazing food and staff, apart from one very rude member of staff. We paid good money for rooms, but guests from the wedding party weren't allowed into the snug bar, even when elderly guests just wanted somewhere quieter to sit and have a drink. The hotel bar was empty, so I would have understood if it had been full of other guests. We also couldn't use the main door from the wedding venue to get to the reception and our rooms. We had to go outside and walk around the building whatever the weather. One rude staff member actually locked us in the wedding venue, making it hard for hotel guests with babies, small children or limited mobility to reach their rooms. I understand the hotel may want to keep other hotel and restaurant guests separate from the wedding venue, and vice versa, but this was very irritating for our wedding guests.
