The Old Stables Bed & Breakfast

The only reason I’d take a star off the room is that both it and the shower room felt a bit cramped. The rest of the stay was lovely. Ali and Simon treated us like houseguests, not paying customers, and the breakfast was generous and excellent. The full English was top notch, with proper locally sourced sausages. After a couple of days I switched to the equally delicious salmon and scrambled eggs. It’s a tucked-away spot, with the excellent Poachers pocket pub at the end of the driveway. We’d definitely return. The fellow guests we got on well with were already on their fourth visit!

Simon & Ali went out of their way to help with my husband’s cycling plans. They made space in their garage for his two bikes and bike rack overnight, and served our gourmet breakfast a little early each day so he could meet his touring club group. I also got plenty of good ideas for places to visit and some great dinner recommendations. We stayed four nights, and both of us agree with the other five-star reviews. We’ll be back soon!

We’ve stayed several times now, and it’s been superb every time. Simon and Ali can accommodate most requests, and all the facilities are top rated. Always a five-star experience. We’ll stay again when we can.

We spent an excellent week here. The converted barn is cosy and tastefully done, with good parking, and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was sumptuous. There are lots of nearby towns, and the location worked really well for us. The local pub is great for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
