The Two Lifeboats

We make a point of visiting this pub restaurant at least once whenever we holiday near Sherringham. We enjoy both the food and the atmosphere, and when the weather cooperates there’s outside dining with a sea view. We usually go in the afternoon, avoid peak holiday times and don’t book, but have never had trouble getting a table.

I had the scampi and chips with a side salad, and it was just perfect. Great food, clean bathrooms and a brilliant choice of alcoholic drinks. Prices ranged from cheap, £8, to more luxury options at £35. The setting was beautiful, with sea views from outside and a heated outdoor porch area.

Definitely worth the money. The beef lasagne was piping hot with a generous cheese topping, garlic bread and a generous side salad. The Cromer crab salad was delicious, with the shell crammed full of fresh crab. It came with a generous side salad, pickled onions, gerkhin, beetroot, coleslaw, relish, boiled potatoes and fresh bread. Booking is essential at busy times, as we saw quite a few disappointed people.

We’d used the 2 Lifeboats for food and drinks over two weeks, and normally I paid at the bar. On our last evening, I paid for the first drink there, then the barman said to sit down and that he’d bring the next ones over. I offered to pay, but when a young girl brought them out, she didn’t say anything and walked off. We assumed she was getting the card reader. An hour later, we were halfway down the slope outside when she came after us to say we hadn’t paid. I was mortified. I gave her my card and followed her back in. The barman and owner were at the bar, returned my card, and I left after apologising. I also rang when we got back to the cottage to apologise again. It was entirely my fault, no blame on them. The 2LBs has just changed hands, and before that you waited to be seated and had table service. Lesson for me: pay at the bar when ordering drinks.
