Breakfast at the Anvil lodge was FANTASTIC. It’s freshly cooked and served hot, with a great choice of cereals. Best to order what you want the day before. I stayed four nights while working in Telford and found the owner chatty and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with huge beds, a bath and a separate high-pressure shower. They may not be to everyone’s taste, but mine was clean and suited me perfectly as a solo business traveller. This isn’t a top-class chain hotel, which I find boring anyway. The owner also gave me good suggestions for evening food and village pubs. The pub next door was the best, and everything was within a five-minute walk. I’d stay again if I’m working in Telford or nearby, and recommend it to colleagues. Thanks!

For a one-night work stay, it was just right. The room was comfy, the host was friendly, and breakfast was nice. It’s close to the village centre, and the pub next door was great.

We’ve stayed at The Anvil Lodge twice now and will be back. Mick and Judy gave us a lovely welcome and were always happy to help with directions and local advice. The place is central to Shifnal, and the room was clean and tidy, with lots of wardrobe and drawer space. Breakfast was fabulous, especially the delicious full English. The pub next door, The Anvil, has real ales and gins, an outdoor garden, and welcomes dogs. It doesn’t serve meals, but sells freshly made filled rolls and snacks. Five stars from us.

I had to cancel because of unforeseen circumstances. I tried the email address provided and sent a message through booking.com as suggested, but heard nothing from the hosts. When I called the number provided, a very grumpy, rude and unhelpful gentleman answered. He was so abrupt that I ended up hanging up. I’m relieved we didn’t stay. Awful experience, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room, bed and bathroom were all large and very nice, and it was quiet at night. Town and Christopher's restaurant were an easy walk away. Breakfast was nice too.
