I had a few pints of Pig on the Wall at £4 each, not bad for Shrewsbury, and it tasted just as it should. The pub has a good selection of ales, with three on tap when I visited, plus the brutal 8.4% Gladiator and another Lilly's cider. Friendly staff and a traditional feel, with patterned carpets and beams. Outside there's a small beer garden with picnic benches on AstroTurf and tables on decking. Dogs are welcome. There's also a dartboard with darts provided and an electronic scorer. A good old fashioned boozer, and probably the best choice in that area if you're visiting. I'll be back.

We needed a buffet arranged at short notice for our wedding anniversary gathering, and they made sure the celebration went smoothly. The host was lovely and thoughtful all evening. Thanks so much to Josh and Lisa, who helped him. 🙂

There's outdoor seating behind the pub, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The Royal Oak has a wide choice of beer, lager and cider, including cask conditioned real ales. The ales were in excellent condition when I visited.

A comfortable local, with beers kept well enough that I'm always tempted by another. There's the usual range from Black Country Brewery along with regular guest beers, and normally several ciders too. The banter can get a bit earthy, and some people may find the screens intrusive, though there's a separate area if that's not your thing. It'd be great to see one person manage it for many years.
