Cromwell's Tap House

The rooftop beer garden was stunning, and we liked the lively crowd and drinks, though things quietened down in time for bed as it didn’t stay open extremely late. Our oldy worldy room had a wooden four post bed and a window onto the beer garden. It was clean and tidy, with fresh white bedding and towels. It’s an old building, so don’t expect a brand new room. Staff greeted us at the bar and were friendly and happy to please. Prices were good, and the location was perfect for shops, bars, restaurants and sightseeing. Thanks to Molly and the chap behind the bar, sorry we didn’t get your name. We’ll recommend it and stay again.

Shrewsbury has so much to offer, and we’ll definitely return. We stayed for two nights in a very comfortable superior double room with en suite. The secondary glazing kept out the road noise, and the room key let us use both the front door and the internal door to the upstairs rooms, so we could come and go without going through the bar. There’s a friendly bar and the food was excellent. Staff were welcoming, and the place is a short walk from the railway station, with the main shopping street just around the corner. Highly recommend.

The staff were really lovely, and the bar served decent wine. The building is very old, so it won’t be perfect, but we found our room comfortable, with a decent amount of space, a comfy bed and a good en suite. We heard some noise from the bar below, though it was quiet by about 10pm. We were visiting family nearby and stayed a couple of nights. It’s well located for getting around, and the nearby car park was £10 for 24 hours via the NCP app, which seemed very reasonable. A good choice.

We stopped by twice while in town. It’s a lovely traditional pub with friendly staff and a great location. The beer garden was a nice place to sit, and the next day we went back for the sausage and cider festival. There was an awesome selection of ciders, as well as a great choice of beers and ales.
