The Shrewsbury Hotel Wetherspoon

The adjoining pub has plenty of food and drink to choose from, including a great breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I had a very comfortable two night stay in January. The room and bathroom were lovely and very clean, with complimentary tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and bottled water. It was surprisingly quiet. No faults, thank you.

After breaking my leg in January, today was my first trip out. I'd heard nice things about this pub and its outdoor area, so I made the effort to get there on my crutches with a friend and my service dog. We sat outside and tried to order drinks, but they refused to serve us because I didn't have paperwork to prove she was a service dog, even though it was clear she was. I ended up across the road at the armoury, a beautiful pub where they welcomed my service dog with open arms and are completely dog friendly. It took a lot to get all the way over there, only to be turned away here.

The room was bigger and better equipped than I expected, and it was lovely and clean. The complimentary water bottles were a nice touch. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful when I arrived. It was a little noisy on the main road, but that's to be expected in a pub hotel and wasn't a deal breaker. I'd recommend it and stay again.

One of the better Wetherspoons I've visited. We didn't stay at the hotel, but the kids were made to feel welcome and the service was great. The food came quickly and was well cooked.
