The Bedford Hotel

We could bring our dog into the bar for meals, and there was even a separate breakfast area for dog owners with complimentary sausages for the dog. The staff were friendly, the hotel was spotless, and housekeeping was excellent. Restaurant food was excellent value too. Parking was the one drawback, though that seems normal for Sidmouth, and there are plenty of car parks nearby. A lovely hotel, highly recommended.

Room 18 was easily the best one we’ve stayed in, so I’m sure we’ll ask for it next time. It was nice to see Mr Pyne at the hotel. Pynes Bar service was excellent, though I’d personally like more than one ale to choose from. The Lounge is being turned into extra ground rooms, and the reason made sense. This was another great stay at the Bedford, where the standards are always excellent. Breakfast has a choice to suit anyone. Thanks again.

We stayed for three nights in April 2026 and had a very comfortable second-floor room with lovely views out over the sea and westward. The hotel is well run and in a great location. Meals were good, especially breakfast, and all the staff were pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

The hotel’s location worked well for both the town and walks along the beach, and the staff were very obliging. I’d just come back from a five-day coach holiday here and had a lovely double room, even though I was travelling alone. The food was superb, high quality and plentiful. I’ll definitely return ☺️
