I had to move out of Lexington with my children after living there for several years because the lifts kept causing problems. One is always out of service, and often both are. We were on the 14th floor, so waiting for a working lift could take 15 to 30 minutes when only one was running. If neither worked, getting up to the 14th floor with children was a real problem. This has been going on for five years and is getting worse.

The apartment had a great view, and there are nice restaurants nearby. It’s also close to Lego land. The elevators were a bit unclean, but otherwise they were fine.

DO NOT BOOK. Flats are often booked by drug dealers and can smell of all sorts of things they shouldn’t. The flat owners don’t seem to care who books them. Definitely stay away if you’re visiting with family, kids or for work. You may not get fob keys, and if you park, the council will fine you because all the spaces are reserved.

It gets quite hot on sunny days, though there are fans in every room. The place is clean and tidy, and it’s in a good spot next to the train station. Slough badly needs a lick of paint and a good tidy-up. I stayed here because it’s easy to get into London. It’s 20 minutes straight to Paddington, and a family day ticket cost £31, including all six Underground zones.

Groceries, buses, and the train are easy to reach from here. It was a quiet, clean place to stay.
