Skyways Hotel

The hotel itself is very basic. The mattress felt like cardboard, and the bathroom is badly worn. The shower looked unsafe, so I wasn’t sure I wanted to risk using it. The bar/pub next door was a different story: tasty food and cheap prices for the area. Hotel 2/5, bar/pub 4/5.

A miserable room: small, cold and dirty. There was no heating, and reception told me to use an electronic heater that wasn’t even in the room. The window wouldn’t shut, so there was a draught and street noise. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t had a proper clean in a long time. There was no soap or hot water either.

Cheap enough for a bed for the night, but barely habitable and not especially clean. The bathroom was mouldy, and the salon attached to the back of the hotel made noise. I didn’t try the food, and I wouldn’t consider staying again.

This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Our room was at the highest, hardest-to-reach spot, even though I was with my 10year old autistic boy. The toilet wasn’t fixed to the floor, the bed covers were rags, and the split laminate flooring caught our feet. The bedroom window was the emergency fire exit onto the city back street, and it wouldn’t close. The bath wouldn’t fill. Dinner was microwave lasagne served in styrofoam. My complaints were ignored, with no apology or compensation. Because I’d paid cash, they refused a refund, and I couldn’t change hotels. It ruined my son’s birthday weekend.
