There was plenty to enjoy at The Old Chequers, even on days we stayed in to relax and make use of the house. It’s full of charm and character and beautifully kept, with spotless, spacious rooms and everything we needed. South Creake is a lovely village, right on the high street, with walks and countryside nearby and the North Norfolk coast only a short drive away. The Ostrich Inn looked after us very accommodatingly. We had a lovely weekend and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for a peaceful Norfolk getaway or to return ourselves.

The hosts gave us genuinely top-class hospitality and couldn’t have done more. The house itself is incredibly nice, with all the luxury you could want, and its location made it easy to get everywhere. We’ll definitely return!

We were twelve people from three generations, and there was plenty of room to eat and spend time together at the Old Chequers. The house is generously and thoughtfully equipped, and everyone found things to do, especially the younger ones in the play room. Our few questions were answered quickly and helpfully. We had a very enjoyable break and highly recommend it.

The Old Chequers made a great base for our big family, with room for all ages and space to split the adults and kids up when we needed to. We had fun in the garden, stream, courtyard entertaining space and hot tub. The house is well equipped and the beds are super comfortable. Charlotte was a wonderful host, always available for questions. South Creake is a lovely village, with a good restaurant, and Creake Abbey is only a short drive away for its great deli and farmers market. We’ll 100% be back!

Charlotte and the team had thought of everything for our long weekend at The Old Chequers, celebrating my parents' Golden Wedding Anniversary. The house is set up so well that we felt relaxed and at home straight away, with different spaces to use throughout the day and things to keep the kids busy, or out of the way when needed. We got the hot tub up to temperature on Saturday afternoon, and it was worth the effort. The pool/snooker table and gaming screens were used a lot too. Communication before, during and after was spot-on. We visited the nearby Holkham country park for the fun high-ropes course and took a very short walk to the Ostrich Inn in the village for an excellent Sunday Lunch. Next time we need room for the whole family, The Old Chequers will be first on our list.
