The Castle Inn

Dinner was freshly made and delicious, and breakfast was lovely too, with fruit, cereal and a cooked meal made to order. The room was outstandingly clean, the bed was REALLY comfortable and the shower was amazing. Rachel (sorry if I’ve got your name wrong, my lovely) was so welcoming and friendly, with excellent customer service. Amanda is a lovely landlady and a great cook, and she always has time for a chat. We were only here for one night, but loved it. If you’re a proper, down-to-earth person who enjoys a proper, down-to-earth pub, I’d highly recommend this place.

Our friend brought her whole family the day after we recommended it, and they loved it too. We’ve found our new favourite place to eat and will be back. On our second lunch visit, we were blown away by the food, and the place had been tidied up since we came a few months earlier. The owner explained that they’d taken it back over after someone else had been running it, which explained the improvements. Fantastic food and service, the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten, a great choice of beers and lots of delicious vegetarian options. There’s good space between tables, the facilities are clean, and it’s good value too. Thank you :)

The staff and owners were the highlight of our stay. They made a real effort to welcome us, make us feel valued and look after us, and we’re already planning to return to the village next year. We happened to visit this wonderfully friendly and beautiful village pub just before the second lockdown. The food was fantastic inside or as takeaway, and their chips were the best I’ve ever tasted. Add the roaring fires and lovely surroundings, and the Castle Inn became one of the highlights of our break. I can’t wait to go back.

We had a lovely stay, with a clean, comfortable room supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits. The views over George Nympton and the Devon countryside are beautiful, and the owners and staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully made and really tasty, and there was a nice drop of ale too. It’s clearly much loved and well used by the locals. Highly recommended, and thank you for a very pleasant stay.
