Best camping trip we’ve had so far! On the second night, we got back and met three other families with children, and we all shared a wonderful campfire. The kids got on really well and had a blast. It was our second day and we couldn’t wait to head out. I wanted to make the most of the last weeks of the summer holidays, so I packed up the car with my dog and pre-teen for a two-day camping adventure. Jude (pronounced ‘Judy’) and Headgate Farm let us pitch our tent at short notice. For a rustic campsite, the facilities are fab, which was a pleasant surprise. It’s very dog-friendly, but remember this is a working farm with livestock, so keep pets under control. Our fur baby loves it here, but was strictly supervised. The site has a wire fence, so if your dog might jump it, keep them on a lead. Please note, your pet will be shot on site; this is standard practice anywhere with livestock concerned.

The quiet setting and friendly host made our stay at Headgate Farm such a lovely break. We were given a useful map and tips for places to visit nearby, and the farm animals were a hit with children. The outdoor space is beautiful, the accommodation comfortable, and the clear night was perfect for stargazing. Headgate Farm is a peaceful escape from city life. We had a brilliant time and would love to return.

Jude and her husband Henry are such lovely people, and they made sure we were well looked after. The place is quiet and beautiful, with animals all around. It was just right for me and my missus. Definitely recommend it.

We were cycling through and called a few hours ahead to ask for a pitch. The owners were wonderful, with helpful suggestions about the area and what to see. Our camper room had a microwave, fridge, kettle and somewhere to sit. The friendly animals came over to the fence for a pet, which was fun. It was so peaceful, and the cloudless night gave us great stargazing. Thanks for a lovely night.

We woke to a delicious full English breakfast with all the trimmings. Our Beech Room was comfortable, with good luggage storage and a private bathroom, and the countryside views took in fields and rolling hills. The wooden ceiling beams gave the place a lovely cottage feel. Our host greeted us so warmly when we arrived, and made the stay wonderful.
