The room was upgraded for the rest of our stay after our first night, as a gift for my wife’s 40th birthday. We were overwhelmed by the gesture, and the gorgeous sea-view room had an en-suite. The bed was very comfortable, everything was clean, and breakfast was cooked to perfection with plenty of other options like cereal, fruit and toast. Jo and Ian were outstanding hosts. We stayed for a long weekend and will definitely return next time we’re in South Shields. It’s a hidden gem, just a two-minute walk from the sea front. Highly recommended.

From the front rooms you can watch ships and ferries sail down the Tyne and out into the North Sea. The Victorian rooms are spacious, with big windows, and the house is on a quiet road. Breakfast is lovely and cooked individually. A really nice family-run guest house, highly recommended.

We spent four nights here and had a really enjoyable stay. The owners were welcoming, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet and peaceful, with good WiFi. It’s ideally situated close to the sea front, pubs and restaurants.

Jo was lovely and friendly, and did everything she could to help us feel comfortable. We had great chats, she helped with our bags, arranged a taxi and gave us information about the area. The room, bathroom and toilet were all very clean and smelled fresh. A lovely place, definitely recommend it!

The hosts, Jo and Ian, looked after us so well. They’re two of the loveliest people you could meet, and leaving felt like saying goodbye to family. We’ll be back! The place is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, with lots of unexpected extras: toiletries, towels, tea and coffee, free WiFi, good parking and bottled water. It feels more like a hotel than any B&B I’ve stayed in. Our comfy bed and the quiet location made for a great night’s sleep, then we had a delicious breakfast with a huge choice of cereal, juice, yoghurt, tea and coffee, plus an amazing full English cooked to order. The location is excellent, with town a ten-minute walk away and the beach five minutes away. The views from the bedroom windows are stunning. What a gem!
