Owl Cottage

We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire once the baby was asleep, but left on Saturday afternoon instead of staying through Sunday. We'd booked Friday to Sunday. We'd come mainly to walk the dogs, use the tub and have a fire, with our toddler and two beagles along. For the price, it might suit couples with one or two dogs, but I wouldn't call it suitable for children under three. We've had much better weekend stays, and next time we'll take longer to research before booking. We went to Daventry country park, but it was very muddy in February. There wasn't a path at the front, so pushing a pram meant going over the grass, which was awkward, and walking two dogs there felt dangerous. We had to bring our own logs as none were left. There was no shampoo or similar, which we hadn't packed because other places have provided it. The oven door was temperamental and wouldn't stay properly closed. The photos seemed a little misleading to me: the other side was pure mud, and our dog managed to jump onto the hot tub and over the wall. I got her back, but perhaps the tub is in the wrong place. Downstairs felt rather tight, there were cobwebs that could use more dusting, and the brown sofa wasn't comfortable, possibly because a spring had gone.
